I'm Just Me

Hi Everyone! Welcome to my blog. If you don't already know me, my name is Sabrina Frye. I am a mother of two, and an amazing wife (if i do say so myself!) to the greatest husband ever.

There isn't much to say about me, I live a pretty boring life. I have a horse that doesn't get the attention he deserves anymore, but he enjoys being a pasture horse at 25 years old. I have a 14 year old son, who loves to drive me up the wall, and a 3 1/2 year old daughter, who loves to destroy every room I clean! They are the greatest thing I have done in my life and I love them with every ounce of my being. I also have an amazing husband, whom I have known since I was in 6th grade. He was the first boy to every tell me he had a crush on me, but in 6th grade.. boys were still yucky...so i ran away!! Horses were cool, and I had one of those who got every waking moment of my attention. We won lots of ribbons at all the shows we performed in. Later on down the road I got pregnant in 11th grade, and pushed on through school. Instead of graduating early, I took college classes while in high school. I had always wanted to go to med school, but it seemed to long and to time consuming for being a single mother, so I turned to Radiology instead. I've been doing radiology for 10 years now, and self taught myself, while working 3rd shift, to pass my Computed Tomography and Mammography National boards.

Back to that amazing husband of mine, since he is half the reason I am here now. My son loved fishing, and we have a great fishing spot near our house. One day he came home telling me about these two guys that were teaching him to fish better, I thought it was sweet, but had no idea who they were. I went down to pick him up one day, and he pointed those guys out. I turned around and it was the boy from 6th grade, all grown up. He had no idea I had a son, and was as surprised as I was. We started talking and ended up dating. We had a daughter and got married too! He has supported me and pushed me, even when I was afraid, to go back to school and do what I always wanted to do.

That is why I started the FLEX option degree program through UW Milwaukee. It allows me to still work full time, and be home with my family, while finishing my Bachelor's Degree. Then I will head to Med School and become a Doctor, like I always wanted to be.

This Cultural Diversity class I'm creating this blog for is a required class for my degree. I live in a small town and work at a small hospital, so I do not have much experience with cultural diversity. However, I have had many patients that come to the hospital with disabilities. It is hard sometimes to complete exams on patients, depending on the disability, but I do whatever I can to make them comfortable and still get a great exam. Sometimes it's asking for help, sometimes it's sitting down and explaining every detail to them multiple times. Some patients I need to adjust how our xray tube and cassette are positioned, and some patients I just need to have patience with.

I love what I do, performing xrays, CT Scans, bone density exams, fluoroscopy, giving mammograms to patients. I enjoy helping find out what is wrong with them, helping them feel better, or watching their fractures heal, but I want to do even more.
